MONDAY’S CUP OF MOTIVATION: VOL 372
What is holding us back from reaching the next level? Is it our comfort zone or the fear of failure? Defining moments in life involve risk. Think back to how many times we didn’t take a chance? We played it safe but safety resulted in lost opportunities. We can’t let the fear of failure hold us back. Fear results is regret. Why not be afraid but do it anyway? If we want to take life to the next level, we need to acknowledge that there will always be some level of risk involved. Getting out of our comfort zone is the key to experiencing new things, broadening our horizons, and taking the risks that help us grow as people. Why take the safe route when we can seize the opportunity and go for it? If we truly want to take the island, then we need to burn the boats. We can’t be somewhat committed. We need to be fully committed. The bigger the risk, the greater the reward. This week, let’s take that risk, work through our fear and push through our boundaries. As always, let’s keep moving forward!!
ENCOURAGEMENT…
I ran into a friend of mine at the track once. We decided to have a friendly race… one mile.
Starting off, he pulled just ahead of me. I thought I would close the distance and pass him after a short bit, but could never quite do it.
The whole last lap my body was on fire, and I was pushing it as hard as I could. He crossed the line 10 meters ahead of me. He didn’t even look winded, just a dead-set look in his eyes.
Afterwards, I asked him how he ran that fast, and he told me that it is all in the motivation you light in your mind… imagining your own world and blotting out everything else.
So I asked, “What do you imagine?”
He replied, “What do you?”
I told him that to run faster, I like to imagine that I am being chased by a wolf.
He smiled and said, “In my mind, I am the one chasing the wolf.”
That was the day that I started to understand.
