MONDAY’S CUP OF MOTIVATION:
Yesterday was Father’s day. We took time to honor the men who have made such a huge impact in our lives. Being a great dad is such an important role. Father’s day reminds us how important it is to be a good role model in every aspect of our lives. Each of us works hard to be the best we can be for our families and ourselves. Life is so much more than being just about us. If it was just about us, then it would be over when we pass. The fact that we make such a huge impact on others makes our lives so much more. Remember that no matter how good or how bad our days are, there are people in our lives who love us and rely on us. Let’s always make the effort to be a great friend and a great parent. We all make a difference to so many people and Father’s day and Mother’s day are just annual reminders. This week, don’t sweat the small stuff. Realize what is most important and don’t worry about things that truly don’t matter in the long run. If we choose to learn from our worries instead of feed into them, we will be able to accomplish anything we dream. Remember that as long as we have our health and our family, we have it all. Let’s cherish the ones we have while we have them and always remember the ones who made us the people we are today. Keep up the good fight and have a phenomenal week.
ENCOURAGEMENT CORNER…
The Worry Tree
A man hired a carpenter to help him restore an old farmhouse.
The carpenter had a rough first day on the job.
First – a flat tire made him lose an hour of work. Then his electric saw quit. And at the end of the day – his pickup truck refused to start.
While the man who hired him drove him home – the carpenter sat in stony silence. On arriving home – the carpenter invited the man to come in and meet his family.
As they walked toward the front door – the carpenter paused briefly at a small tree – touching the tips of the branches with both hands.
Upon opening the door – he underwent an amazing transformation.
His tanned face was wreathed in smiles as he hugged his two small children and gave his wife a kiss.
After introducing the man to his family – the carpenter walked the man to the car.
They passed the tree and the man’s curiosity got the better of him. He asked the carpenter about what he had seen him do earlier.
“Oh, that’s my ‘Trouble Tree’,” the carpenter replied. “I know I can’t help having troubles on the job – but one thing’s for sure – my troubles don’t belong in the house with my wife and the children. So I just hang them up on the tree every night when I come home. Then in the morning I pick them up again.”
Funny thing is,” he smiled, “when I come out in the morning to pick them up, there aren’t nearly as many as I remember hanging up the night before.”
WORDS TO LIVE BY…
Ask yourself this question: “Will this matter a year from now?”
Richard Carlson
Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy.
Leo F. Buscaglia
The key to a good life is this: If you’re not going to talk about something during the last hour of your life, then don’t make it a top priority during your lifetime.
Richard Carlson
Rule number one is, don’t sweat the small stuff. Rule number two is, it’s all small stuff.
Robert Eliot
I am an old man and have known a great many troubles, but most of them never happened.
Mark Twain
If you can’t sleep, then get up and do something instead of lying there worrying. It’s the worry that gets you, not the lack of sleep.
Dale Carnegie
If you want to test your memory, try to recall what you were worrying about one year ago today.
E. Joseph Cossman
